Whitby
Whitby gets a mention all on its own because it is such a nice place (and I took loads of pictures). A beautiful Victorian seaside town that on the most part has not been spoilt by seaside tat. Not much to report about Whitby, apart from it being Anne’s highlight of the day. She loved the pier, quayside, and buildings. She thought it was a bit like a Cornish village but on a bigger scale. Thanks, Clodia, Whitby was added at the last minute on your recommendation. And to top it all, they welcomed the 60s, that’s us folks.
The journey to Whitby from Sunderland was really interesting. I didn’t know there were so many places called Hidden Dip. We were also very lucky to pass through the North Yorkshire Heather Moors while they were in full bloom. Purple for as far as the eye can see.
