Longwood Gardens
Okay Two Pink Chairs fans, to date you might be wondering “where are the photos of the two pink chairs?” Well, it’s time to come clean. We didn’t bring them this time. Anne had so many gifts for our friends that we exceeded the baggage allowance and I made the executive decision to leave them behind. But guess what, has that held us back? No of course not. Thanks to Mark. While on a 12-mile run this morning he spotted, yes! Two pink chairs! So on the way to Longwood Gardens, we stopped off at Montrachet on the Kennet Pike and sat in two pink chairs! So the challenge has been set, find two pink chairs to sit in at every major location. Next stop New York. Good luck us.
Today is Sunday. This time 10 years ago Anne visited Mark and Joelle who lived in a different house close to the Mother Africa Union Church. For 10 years she has been telling me how amazing this church is so today we went along. She was right. Give me an AMEN!!! I have never received so many hugs.
In the afternoon we trotted off to Longwood Gardens. It is difficult to compare Longwood with anything in the UK. It is a stately home owned by the Du Pont family (of Lycra and gunpowder fame, an interesting combination in anyone’s books) but it is immense. Hundreds of acres if beautiful gardens and a conservatory that competes with Kew Gardens grandeur. The centrepiece is a water garden and fountain display set to music during the day and music, lights and fireworks in the evening. I have never seen anything like it before. The video below gives a small taster.
Mark cooked a wonderful meal again. I’m sure it was wonderful, but by the time I sat down Mark had supplied me with two rather large Bourbon and Mint Fizzes. Mmmm holiday time!
