Dorset

Woohoo Two Pink Chair fans, guess what?  We found two more pink chairs in  Hoosick Falls, New Hampshire. They were in amongst 326 other Adirondack chairs, what chairs? Adirondack is THE chair to have in NH. Anyhoo, as they say, Mark is no longer the pink chair king.

Dorset, the famous county in the English west country, is also a small town in Vermont USA and the home of Gretchen, Joelle’s best friend and Anne’s Facebook friend of 10 years. We had never met. We finally met her in Manchester near Dorset (yes I know Manchester is nowhere near Dorset) at the Family Shoe Shop where she works.  I made the mistake of wearing my old L.L. Bean shoes. “Hi, I’m Clive” I said to Gretchen, holding out my hand. “you should throw those into the bin,” said Gretchen, pointing at my shoes. Gretchen is a Podiatrist and takes her work very seriously. Within seconds my shoes were off, my feet measured and I was on a fancy machine being told my arches needed support and I walk with an unnatural outward roll that will give me a backache. “oh, by the way, welcome to Dorset” said Gretchen.

We were early so left Gretchen and went for lunch across the street. After lunch, we walked back to the car. Actually, Anne walked back to the car and I watched. She opened the door and was halfway in when a woman sitting outside the restaurant shouted: “Can I help you?” Anne, a little confused at this point looked around to see me on the other side of the car park standing by our car smiling. Tee hee, I know, I should have said something but couldn’t resist seeing if she would actually get in. 

Gretchen lives in a ‘ranch’ house in the middle of a forest and has two dogs. One is a Huskey called Bella. Anne’s new found love of dogs must have been evident to Bella who instantly attached herself to Anne and they became best friends. Anne has decided that if we were to ever have a dog, (what?) it would be a Huskey called Boston. The world is changing too quickly for me, help, someone stop it I want to get off!
